Moving Day!

Well we are finally in the new house. It is about 90% finished and livable, but still a work in progress. We have water, electricity and heat and a working kitchen. In all fairness we're pretty much finished, just touch up needed here and there. We actually haven't even had inspections yet, but unlike Denver you can move into a house in Steamboat without a certificate of occupancy. Below are a few updated pictures. Luckily we're in the house before Ben's arrival. Matt is looking forward to some "down" time, although I'm not sure what he'll be doing on his free time without a house project.

Okay, I know this is weird to have a toilet on our website but I thought this was so cute. If you can't tell from the picture, this is a mini toilet in that it's only 10 inches from the floor. It's specifically for the potty training years. For those of you who come to visit, don't worry we just put this in the kid's bath. Normal size toilets in all other bathrooms.

These are dining room pictures from various angles. The wainscotting is a work in progress. It still has several coats of stain to be put on. The beams on the ceiling are also going to be stained to match the woodwork color of the kitchen cabinets. My brother is doing all the stain work. It's been a good excuse for him to spend time in Steamboat snowboarding and such but I'm not sure he realized what he was in for when he signed up for our project.

Kitchen Update

April is so HAPPY now that her kitchen is finally done. The only thing missing now are the knobs and pulls and the tile backsplash but at least it is a functioning kitchen now. We're getting a little tired of eating out so it'll be nice to have a home meal again.

Steamboat Construction: Living Room Fireplace

April's father designed and built the mantel on this fireplace. He also added a little extra when he had the initials aCm engraved on a plaque in the center. It's difficult to see in the picture, but it was a definite labor of love. The actual fireplace is done out of stone. The picture looks like wood because of the planking but it is stone.

Update on Benjamin

Here are new pictures of Ben as of 2/23/06. He is 4 months old now and weighs 15 lbs and is approximately 24 in long. He sleeps about 7 hours straight at night (yeah....) and eats well. We're hoping we're still on track to get him at the end of April.
