We were worried that our kitties (who have been our children up until now) might have some problems adjusting to letting attention shift from them to Benjamin. Having to share lap time and petting time with each other was hard enough. We didn't have to worry because any lap is fine, and any petting is fine, even if it comes from Benjamin. We're teaching Benjamin how to "pet gently" although it doesn't seem to make much difference to the kitties. They purr no matter what.

Hey April and Matt--
Ben looks SO alert---he notices everything, doesn't he? What a cutie! You can tell that he's going to keep you guys busy! If your house is anything like ours, the cat stuff goes on and on. By the time they get to Malia's age (4), the cat has more trouble hiding and running. The kids want to pick them up and carry them everywhere. (We're STILL trying to teach Macy to be gentle with the cat---don't pull ears/whiskers, don't touch the eyes). But cats get a bad rap---our cats have always been extremely patient with the kids. AND they even WANT to be where the kids are! Looks like you're really enjoying "discovering" Ben---it's amazing how much they change every month, isn't it?
On a side note, are you going to Ray's wedding?
